Jeep’s engineers have increased the Wrangler Unlimited’s capability and versatility by reinforcing the frame for increased ruggedness and greater payloads – up to 1,339 kg (2,952 lbs.) while all systems -axles, brakes and suspension components, are also engineered for heavy duty use. Another feature of the J8 is its heavy-duty bumpers with “tow eyes” that allow it to be transported by airplane or helicopter. -Continued after the jump
Powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 158 Hp and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of torque, the Jeep J8 features a towing capability of up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs.). The 2.8L diesel-engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The J8 also features a unique air-intake system with special filtration and a hood-mounted snorkel that enables it to wade in water up to 762 mm (30 in.) deep and tackle sandstorm conditions for up to five hours.
According to Jeep, while the J8 isn’t designed for actual front-line combat operations, it is however fully armor capable and it can be used in a variety of duties ranging from command vehicle to troop/cargo carrier, ambulance, communications vehicle etc. Sounds great, how about a civilian version guys?
