For many years now, BMW has taken away the worries of service costs from its new car customers in the USA with its four-year or 50,000 miles -whichever comes first- free maintenance plan. That means, BMW owners don't pay anything for the scheduled services for that particular period of ownership. Now, BMW has announced that, with the exception of the Alpina B7, all of its models are eligible for purchase of an extended plan of 6 years or 100,000 miles, again, whichever comes first. The catch? You have to pay for it...Depending on the model, the cost for the extension ranges from $1,395 to $2,995. BMW vehicle owners can purchase the two-year Maintenance Program extension from an authorized BMW Center during the first four years after the vehicle's in-service date or 50,000 total miles, whichever comes first.
Furthermore, the company said that for a small surcharge, the period to enroll a vehicle can be extended through the fifth year of vehicle age or 60,000 total miles.
"BMW's Maintenance Program keeps vehicles well cared-for and more valuable in the pre-owned marketplace. Our decision to make the six-year Maintenance Program Upgrade available to purchase for all BMW models makes it possible for more vehicles to remain under the care of an authorized BMW Center for a longer period of time, and that's the best way to ensure longevity for each vehicle," said Alan Harris, Vice President of Aftersales for BMW of North America.
