Skoda Unveils Eco-Friendly Greenline Versions of Facelifted Fabia and Roomster

Following on from the launch of the refreshed Fabia and Roomster models at Geneva Motor Show this past March, Skoda has now released the environmentally-friendly GreenLine versions of the two models.

Leaving aside the subtle aesthetic changes that are the same as on the standard Fabia hatch and Roomster MPV, the most important innovation on both GreenLine II models concerns the introduction of the VW Group's new 1.2-liter three-cylinder supercharged diesel engine that produces 75-horsepower.

The new diesel unit is linked to a five-speed manual gearbox with identical ratios as the one fitted on the ordinary Fabia and Roomster models with the same engine.

Both Fabia and Roomster GreenLine II models feature the usual roster of environmentally friendly touches.

These include stop-start technology, a new energy recuperation system that utilizes the vehicle's kinetic energy for battery recharging, a lowered and aerodynamically-covered chassis, low rolling resistance tires and a gear recommendation light on the dashboard.

These measures result in a combined fuel consumption of just 3.4lt/100km (equal to 69.2 mpg US and 83.1mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 89 g/km for the Fabia GreenLine II, and 4.2lt/100km (equal to 67.3mpg UK and 55.9 mpg US) and 109 g/km for the Roomster GreenLine II.

Skoda Facelifts Fabia and Roomster Models, Adds New Gasoline and Diesel Engines

At next week's Geneva Motor Show, Skoda will lift the wraps off the refreshed Fabia hatchback and Combi station wagon models as well as their MPV-esque sibling, the Roomster.

All three models benefit from some minor cosmetic tweaks up front that include a restyled grille, a new bumper design and revised headlights. The new alloy wheel and hub cap designs along with the expanded palette of exterior finishes round off the exterior changes.

The most important updates are hidden under the hood as Skoda has adopted the VW Group's new 1.2-liter 12v and 1.2-liter TSI that replace the naturally aspirated 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline units, and the 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter TDI that take the place of the 1.4-liter and 1.9-liter TDI diesels.

The 1.2-liter 12v gasoline unit produces 86HP (there's also a 70HP version) while its turbocharged TSI counterpart delivers an output of 105HP and can be optionally combined with VW's 7-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.

The new 1.2 TDI diesel churns out 75HP while the new 1.6 TDI is offered in two flavors, with 90HP and 105HP.

Further details about the availability and prices on the updated Fabia and Roomster models are to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

Milotec Releases LED kit for Skoda Fabia and Roomster

While LED daytime running light have found their way in many upscale models, few makers offer them even as extras on mainstream cars like the Skoda Fabia hatch and its crossover sibling, the Roomster. But this is where aftermarket tuners like Skoda specialist Milotec come in. In addition to the aero parts and alloy wheel upgrades, Milotec is enhancing its product lineup for the Fabia and Roomster with the introduction of a new LED daytime running light kit. Prices -not including installation- are set at €265 for the standard kit and €289 of the tinted LEDs.

Skoda Roomster Scout - Official

After the premiere of the Octavia Scout in Paris , Skoda is adding a second crossover vehicle to its passenger range, the Roomster Scout. Compared with the basic Roomster the Scout differentiates itself thanks to SUV inspired design elements such as the new bumpers the plastic side covers. As you can guess, no 4wheel drive here as the Roomster Scout is a typical front-wheel drive MPV. In the interior, the dashboard comes in the Onyx/Onyx and Onyx/Silver versions and the seat upholstery material is identical with that in the Octavia Scout.

Two four-cylinder petrol engines are available – 1.4 16V/86 Hp and 1.6 16V/105 Hp along with two diesel motors, the three-cylinder 1.4 TDI PD/80 Hp and the four-cylinder 1.9 TDI PD/105 Hp. All engines come equipped with 5speed manual transmissions, the 1.6 16V version is also available with the Tiptronic 6speed automatic. The Roomster Scout will have its world premiere at the Essen and Bologna motor shows in early December with market launch planned for March 2007.

Skoda Roomster Milotec

Czech tuner Milotec which specializes in Skoda cars presented their version of the Roomster MPV. From what we make from Milotec’s Czech speaking only site, the Roomster gets a dozen or so plastic add-ons like the grey colored door-mirror and mask covers, a new radio, a new set of 17’’ alloys but unfortunately, no engine kit.

SCOOP: 2008 Skoda Roomster Scout

These phone camera spy pics reveal that Skoda is working on an crossover edition of its new compact MPV, Roomster. Like the Octavia Scout, the Roomster Scout gets newly designed bumpers at the front and rear, body-colour side mouldings and profiled door sills. Protective strips on the wheel housings, sumpguard protection (front and rear) and the higher ground clearance complete the 4x4 package. But unlike its Octavia counterpart, I highly doubt that the Roomster Scout will get a 4x4 drivetrain.

The model range will include among others, 1,4, 1,6 and 2,0 litre MPI & FSI engines. According to sources in the VW Group, the Roomster will g
